ABOUT TIM CASSON

Tim CassonStrong, traditional and large in scale are a few words that not only describe Tim’s timber frame structures, they define his design skills, carpentry talents and knowledge of wood.

Tim’s passion for wood was evident from a young age. He began crafting his skills early on in high school by building furniture and when his demand for wood became so great, he started logging for lumber to not only supply his own projects, but his school’s as well.

After participating in two Skills Canada competitions and winning gold in Ontario for carpentry both times, Tim continued his pursuit to work in the construction and wood industry by framing houses and building custom estate homes for almost a decade.

Aside from Tim’s professional pursuits, it was his craft and drive that allowed him to realize a personal dream. After acquiring a 100 acre bush lot, he put his design and carpentry skills to the test by building a timber frame cabin; a home away from home. With a pine plantation onsite to draw from, Tim carefully thinned the forest, prepared the wood he needed and brought his dream into reality. Over the past five years, he has also dedicated a lot of time to ensuring that the health of his tree plantation will flourish well beyond his lifetime by planting over 8,000 trees.

Having enjoyed the construction of his cabin so much, Tim started building timber frame structures occasionally and decided to launch his business in 2008 dedicated solely to this style.

“I love timber frames because of their sheer size. It’s heavy and draped in tradition. This construction method has stood the test of time over hundreds of years and brings a lot of character to whatever structure it’s used for.”
